Max who? Max me of cause! xD
So now you are properly asking your self, who the heck is this guy? So let me present myself, my name is Max Frank Sørensen, and I live in Italy. Now you may think, that strange kind of name doesn’t sound Italian at all, in fact it isn’t
, I moved to Italy in the summer of 2003. Where am I from then? I’m from Denmark (was born there and lived there until the summer of 2003), and both my parents are from Denmark too. Now I’m sure that the question I have been asked the most in my life pops up in your head, “Why did you move to Italy”? Well the whole idea got started by my mum, that visited Italy every year in her childhood with her grandparents and enjoyed it a lot. I think that the thing that really got the whole idea going was that both my parents worked very hard in Denmark, and they couldn’t really dedicate much time to me, my sister or any of their hobbies. Many times they felt stomped on and pushed around by the society! Upon that they had a dream about starting up their own campsite, so that whole thing gave us the courage to pull up our roots and move to Italy. Ok, that whole bunch of text didn’t really answer the question “why did YOU move to Italy”, so here it goes: Well, primary the thought about having my own campsite was very very cool, and second I was tired about the school (every day the same story), so it could be fun with some change in my life. I think that this was the only two reasons I had in my head when I was 12 years old (just before moving to Italy), now I can easily list a bunch more, like: the ability to talk a second language, the whole new culture I have learned and a lot more. All these things compelled together helped me grow stronger and granted me a wider view of the world. Sure I can just as fast list some bad things too, but I don’t want to, why should I?
I’m sure that you are curious about how things went when I came to Italy (or at least I hope you are
), so let me just tell you a little about how it actually went. I have to admit that it was not all flowers and sunshine all the way, I sure got a lot of resistance, but let’s get on with it. Well, we moved to a town called Deruta in central Italy in the summer of 2003 with my mum, dad, sister and of cause our beloved dog and cat xD. Got to say that it was quite a big change. First of all we arrived in the middle of August so compared to Denmark it was very very very hot, we had 45c (about 113 Fahrenheit) when we arrived, outch. Then I got dropped in an Italian school, and if you think that they help foreigners I’m sorry to inform you that you’re wrong, I just got dumped in and should do all the lessons in Italian from day one! On top of that I even had to go to school on saturday and in 3 of the 6 days I had the so called “long day” (from 8:00-17:30), without using strong language I will just say that it sucked pretty hard! Unfortunately it didn’t get better, because a half year later we moved just as I got to know the guys in the my school. The 2 years after we moved a lot
, 7 times in total I think, sometimes we even moved in the same house were we lived before, at a time we even moved in a temporally bungalow at a campsite :S. I’m sure that these 2 years was the most demanding of my whole life, I was really worn down psychologically, at times, and I just wanted to give up, there was only one good thing about this, and it was that once you have reached the bottom you can’t go deeper, and that was really the case here. After all that chaos we finally bought a villa (no, we didn’t get a campsite) and then we made some repairs here and there and today me and my family have 3 nice apartments for rent to tourists visiting the green heart of Italy. So you can say that I finally got my life back after all that chaos! Well, that was a short summary of my story in Italy, of cause, if I was writing it all in detail I’m sure that it would be more than 5 pages long, so let’s stick to this
.
Now another question, why am I making the trouble of telling you all this and why let the whole world know? Well, I think that I have more answers for that question. First because I think it could be fun to start my own “world”
(a thing that I always wanted to try). I also wanted to improve my English, because coming from Denmark to Italy my English has just gone from a little more than acceptable to bad, ok I know that from the text it doesn’t seem like I have big problems, but I have to say that I have used much time and care in making it (even passed a few times by google translate xD). And the last thing on why I’m making this site, is, of cause, to get to know a lot of people from all around the world, (just one of the many things I like to do
). Ok, but why publish it on the 1st of January 2010? Don’t really know why I choose that day, it just felt kind of fun to begin my digital world on the beginning of the year 2010, and in this way I can always keep track on how many days my world has been online hehe
.
Ok, since this is an “about me” page, I will just tell you a little more about me before I conclude. Well, what is there to say; I won’t tell you about my looks, because you can just see the videos and you will know hehe. So let me fill in some personality; well, I’m a shy person (think this is one of my biggest problems
). Ok, but appart from that I consider myself a very trustworthy person, and I’m always ready to give my right arm to a friend in need. What am I into? I’m into adrenaline-pumped stuff, like Enduro (riding a motorbike in the mountains), and of cause I have a favourite brand
, KTM! What else?
(some people on the internet even know me by the name “KTMax” haha), sorry just got carried away there. Anyway, I’m also into gaming (most first person shooter and racing games), I also like to get creative on my computer with all sorts of things, like creating maps for FPS games, 3D drawing, music producing, film editing, image editing and other kind of crazy stuff
.
Well, you heard me talking about school before, right?. Well I’ll just update you on my situation
. In Italy when you turn 14 you already have to choose which specialising school you want to attend. I had a lot of trouble choosing (mostly because I still didn’t know the Italian school system that well), but in the end I finally made my choice picking a school training you to be a surveyor. The school was very rigid adding lots of resistance to my already hard difficulty; let me just to give you an example: we started out 26 in my class, and at the final year we were only 14 left :S. Fortunately I really pushed it to the max and got though without getting rejected one single time (I was really really close at times :S).
So now that my school is finished will I go to university? No, I really doubt it; I’m so finished with the studies (can’t take it anymore), I consider myself ready to begin working due to the good diploma my school got me
.
What’s in the videos? All the things that I normally do; therefor you can expect some of my creative things that I do on my computer plus other fun things, and on top of the mountain there will be a lot of videos about the other new things that happen in my life; nice
.
Just to give you an idea of what’s in my videos I have made this nice 3 minutes long video clip, have a look
So what’s my future plans? Well, at date of writing I’m in Australia, and I’m really enjoying every second of it! My plan is to do a year down here, but I might fully extend my visa by another year if I get the change. I decided to take this year Down Under to get some time to choose what to do after all my studies. To get up to date on what I’m up to Down Under just go to my front page and have a look
That should be it,
Welcome to my world
– Max
Hi Max!
I think this is a really cool site you have. You are really talented in creating videos, im quite impressed. I hope you have a great experience in Australia. As an Australian let me reccommend that you visit Melbourne and Brisbane, I think you will really en joy those two cities.
John
@John Thanks for the compliments mate
… I’m sure that I’ll visit Brisbane (because I have thought of going up the east coast from Sydney), but Melbourne could be so nice to visit too. I have a friend that went to Melbourne two years ago, and she really enjoyed being there (she was very fascinated about the many top quality café’s there)
. What do you recommend to see in Melbourne?
Hey Max,
In regards to Melbourne, its not really a sight but more an experience. The Melbourne Greeter Service involves a free half-day walking tour of the city, with a friendly local showing you around. I would definetly reccomend that for you. By the way which parts of Australia are you visiting? And for how long?
@John
He’s visiting Australia for about a year, I think, and I’m not sure exactly where, but he might be going down along the east coast.
@John Hey there John, thanks for the tip about the free tour at Melbourne, it sounds nice, I’ll consider that one
.. I’m staying Down Under for a year (if I extend my visa for 2 years). I have planned visiting the main cities (and some smaller recommended places) up the east coast. Maybe I’ll visit Canberra (because some of my friends are living there), and if I do so, I may go see Melbourne
